EASTER SUNDAY
The Lord is Risen!
Readings
Acts 10:34, 37-43
Two men, Peter and Cornellius receive a vision from the Holy Spirit. Because of this, Peter comes to Caesarea and tells the Roman centurion Cornellius and his whole family about Jesus: "they killed him by hanging him on a tree, yet on the third day God raised him to life"
This is the Day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.
Ps: 117 (118): 1-2, 16-17, 22-23
"I shall not die, I shall live"
Collossians 3:1-4
"Since you are raised up to be with Christ, you must look for the things that are above."
Gospel: John 20.1-9
"On the first day of the week… Mary of Magdala saw that the stone had been rolled away from the tomb." Peter and John came running "Till this moment they had still not understood the scripture "That he must rise from the dead".
To millennia after the Lord's death and resurrection, do we really understand the scripture?
"To know him is to love him" is a beautiful song that gives us an important message. If we take time apart from our everyday world and give it to Jesus, asking him to show us how to know Him and how to love Him. The Lord will answer us.
Meditation
The scriptures above are taken from today's Easter morning mass. You can read them in your Sunday Missal, or look them up in your Bible. You will be opening a precious casket of jewels and dazzling light! Jesus will come to you to share the delights of today's feast.
Set aside half an hour for Jesus out of your day. The reward you receive will be beyond understanding. Peace of heart, answers to prayers, healing for self or loved ones, secure employment, there is no limit to the power of God. But, Jesus cannot help us if we don't ask. May I suggest you ask first of all for the grace to persevere in your prayer?
Remember to thank him when the graces start pouring in.
